Transportation from the airport

To Montpellier center

You can take a taxi (approximately €30-€40) or the Airport Shuttle (Navette Aéroport, number 120) to Place de l’Europe. The bus stop is located on your left when walking out of the terminal. It leaves the airport on the hour between 9am and 11 pm (see PDF ). Travel time to Place de l’Europe is 15 minutes. From Place de l’Europe you can either walk to your hotel or continue on the tram (blue line 1, direction Mosson, see PDF ). For those staying in the center, the closest tram stop is Place de Comédie.

The single or combined bus tickets are bought from the driver. Each tram stop is equipped with machines to buy tickets. The Airport Shuttle PDF shows how to validate tickets in the bus or tram.

To Heliotel

You can take a taxi (approximately €40-€50) or the Airport Shuttle to Place de l’Europe, as described above. From Place de l’Europe, take the blue line 1, direction Mosson, to Saint-Eloi . Transfer to a city bus (La navette Agropolis) and get down at the last stop, which is in front of Agropolis. The hotel is a short walk (see map ).

Local transportation

You can find maps and information at the Montpellier Tourist Office located at the Place de la Comédie, open 7 days a week (phone: 04 67 60 60 60). Montpellier offers a comprehensive network of buses and trams, available from 5 am to 1 am.

Tramway & buses

You can buy tickets at the ticket dispensers available at each tramway station. Fares are:

  •      One-way fare: 1.60€
  •     10 ride pass: 10€

The Line 1 tram, decorated in blue with white swallows, connects the northern part of the city with the Odysseum terminal on the southeast side. The Line 2, decorated in a flower-power theme, goes from east to west. The colorful Line 3, designed by the famous fashion designer Christian Lacroix, goes from west to east, arriving near the seaside at perols. From there, you can rent a bike or take a short walk (around 20 minutes) to get to the beach. The golden Line 4, also designed by Christian Lacroix, serves only downtown. Some 30 bus lines are connected to the tram lines to offer a comprehensive network that will transport you around Montpellier.

Vélomagg bicycle service

The Vélomagg ' service offers bicycles just the way you want them: available and inexpensive. For your riding pleasure, 50 automatic bike stations with over 2,000 bicycles are available in Montpellier and Agglomération area. Service is open 24/7. All you need is a credit card and you can rent a bicycle to ride the streets of the city and outlying areas (you present your credit card at the departure station and  then when you return the bike at the final station. Cost 0.50€ per hour).

Banking and credits cards

Banks are generally open from 9:00 to 16:30 with a break at lunch time, from Monday to Friday. Cash machines can be found almost everywhere.

Shopping

Most shops are open from 9 or 10 am until 7 pm. On Sunday, shops are closed.

Restaurants

A large variety of restaurants and cafés are scattered throughout Montpellier, especially downtown, walking from the Corum. Some of them are opened late at night. Prices for a menu usually start from 12 € at lunch and 18€ for dinner.

In France, the standard voltage is 220-240 Volts AC, 50 Hz. The plug is the type E two round pins grounded.

French health care does not cover visitors to France. Please ensure that you have an adequate insurance coverage in the event of illness or accident. The organizing committee is not liable for personal injuries sustained by or for loss or damage to property belonging to the participants.
